Info:
UNITED AIRLINES Sud Aviation Caravelle 6R United became the first U.S. airline to fly twin engine jet aircraft when it introduced the first of a fleet of 20 Caravelles on July 14 (Bastille Day), 1961. With the French designed and built Caravelle, United gained a significant competitive advantage on its shorter routes, which it held for over three years until U.S. built jets with similar capabilities became available. The particular aircraft pictured on this card, named "Ville de Coutences", is shown shortly before its retirement in 1972. S-004 91837-D post card Published by Aviation World, Inc., P.O.
